Spreader bar
Couldn't find a spreader bar in the local tool rental places. This product got the job done in relatively quick time. Note: You need to use c-clamps to keep the bar from spinning out of position as you spread the chair.

Spreader tool is a must.
To do the chairs properly, you will need to purchase the spreader. Very handy however, you will also need a clamp or c clamp to hold the ends because they slip off the frame easily. I thought I could do with out it but after reading the reviews, I knew better. Get the spreader.

WORTH THE INVESTMENT and A MUST HAVE!!!
This spreader bar is an absolute must for putting new slings on your chairs! The price on this site was comparable to other sites, the shipping time was fast and it was packaged well. We tried to put our slings on our chairs without this tool. It was frustrating, impossible and a complete waste of time. This tool is worth every penny!!!

Thank goodness
Impossible to complete the install with out this tool. Tool arrived yesterday, completed the install of the first chair I started. Completed the last three chairs. Did all of this in less than two hours. Thanks again.

decent product
After attempting my re sling of six high back pool bar chairs, I have come to the conclusion that some things are better left to professionals. I spent more than I saved ! Your spreader bar worked great, until the last chair. My slings were pre made and maybe I put a little too much pressure trying to make it happen. The un painted threaded side has bent and now I still have one chair to go. When I ordered, I seen two clamps, these clamps would never hold. I still love your product but now considering what to do next. by the way, your fast shipping was amazing !!! 2 day's.

A Must!
I gave this item 4 stars because of price and the tension I had to put on my rails to get the welded frame insert between them cause the tension tool to become slightly distorted in the looseness of the threads. It may have been caused by the railing wanting to roll out a little as tension was increased. However, this was not that much of a problem and I would have never been able to replace my patio chair slings with out this tool. Even though it was $50 I am glad I purchased it.

Primitive but effective
This tool delivers the torque you need to repair and recover difficult sling chair designs. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking it is easy. Many other clamps and measured and cut pieces of 1X2 wood to pound between the bars (to maintain a stretched position) are needed. The welds on the various components needed to create the motion of the pushers are partial and not very professionally done but the main stress on this tool is on the threads in the end nuts and threaded main rods. The tool slips too easily from the sides so clamps are needed to hold the ends down to the chair rails. Dipping the contact angled pieces in a rubber solution would help a lot with the grip. It is a fairly expensive tool for what you hold in your hand but I just finished my second of four chairs and without it, I would not even bother trying. So, barring any issues with those welds, I am getting my money's worth as a DIY dude. Expect to spend hours on each chair if you are solo and have never done it before. It is a real triumph to finish the job, though, because of the difficulty.

Spreader bar tool
Spreader bar tool worked as advertised. The real majic was with the customer service. I paid the price shown, no hidden shipping fees or taxes (probably included in the price the way it should be). Then the shipping itself- I received the product in 2 business days. Wow.

Excellent Tool and Company
The spreader tool is truly an excellent tool. I muscled a few of the spreader bars into place before learning about this tool. I can't believe how much easier it is to place the spreader bars with this tool. The Slingmaster video was fantastic. I highly recommend it. All in all a great company to do business with.

Spreader tool
Worked great on one chair. Then it seemed to cross thread and was impossible to turn. Slingmaster sent a replacement. Thanks for standing behind your product. Can't wait to get the new tool so we can finish our chairs. Can't do the replacement slings without this tool. Best I've seen.

A necessary tool
I had 5 pieces to do including 4 chairs plus a chaise lounge. Trying to do a sling replacement without a good well-designed spreader bar like Slingmasters, at least on my set, would be nuts. I used literally everything I could rig up, still did do the job and almost scratched up the chairs. At least until I come across Slingmaster's tool. My pieces may be old or they may be stiffer because on the 3rd chair, the earlier bar was starting to bend, eventually did break off and render it un-useable. I took pictures of it and forwarded it on the Don Roy. This is where a small (I presume) company's outstanding support shines came shining through with flying colors because a replacement spreader bar was in the mail in time for me to finish up the chairs before a planned party in the following week. There are some improvements that can be made. The brackets that pushes against the legs are L-shaped which I think may be better served if they were C-shaped to avoid them slipping off. The provided clips proved to be insufficient to secure them so I used a pair of long-nosed vice grips with rubber padding to ensure the brackets don't slip off. Another hint is to do a be if wd-40 to get the spreader to turn a little better. Keep up the great job, the outstanding stand-by-your-product stance. I'm keeping my tool since I plan to change out my fabric every few years.
